Small scale drip irrigation system that operates at low heads (0,05-0,2 bar)

The 'Bucket kit' drip Irrigation comprises a 20 L bucket that is mounted 1 m above the level of the field with a filter placed into a hole at its bottom. The system is installed on a raised bed 1 m wide and 15 cm above ground. The system includes two connecting tubes and two 15 m drip lines (or four 7,5m drip lines) with outlets either spaced at 30 cm or 10 cm depending on the crops to be grown. Drip outlets must face upward to avoid clogging risks. Water, thanks to the gravity, flows into the lines and drips into the soil. The system is suitable for the irrigation of high value vegetables such as onions (Allium cepa), carrots (Daucus carota), garlic (Allium sativum) and cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) spaced at 10 cm or spinach (Spinacia oleracea) and kale (Brassica oleracea var. acephala) spaced at 30 cm intervals. Ideal for small gardens in drought prone and water scarce environments where water must be carried for long distances.
